Baby Blues

Top: Urban Behavior; Pants: Costa Blanca; Ring: Forever 21 Bag: Thrift Store in NYC; Shoes: Aldo
I have been loving all the pastel colours that are out this season. If I had it my way the pastel trend would stick around forever, and my whole closet would be filled with pastel garments. So it's no surprise that when I saw these baby blue pants I just had to purchase them. I have no idea how to explain to you how amazing the material on these pants are. Hold on let me try: they are stretchy, paper like thin but not jeggings haha! Hope you are all having a great day!

Book: Sarah's Key

As a child I loved reading, so much so that my parents had to constantly tell me to turn off the light and go to bed. While I like zoning out in front of the TV after a long day, the idea of getting lost in a book for hours is so much more appealing. As I went through high school and university I stopped reading books for pleasure. I was knee deep in reports, papers, assignments that the idea of reading more material was just not very appealing. Now that have more down time I decided that one of my goals this year was to read a book a week! While it sounds like a crazy goal I think it will be a fun challenge, and so far I have been really enjoying it. That being said, I will be sharing some of the books I read on this blog, and at the end of the year lets see where I end up.

Sarah's Key is an exciting and emotionally charged book that goes between two time periods. In the older time period you read about the life Sarah a 10 year old, who's family was arrested. She locks her younger brother in a secret closet in their apartment, thinking that they will come back home in a few hours. In the future time period, you are introduced to Julia a journalist. She is covering a story on the Vel D'hiv and soon uncovers family secrets that tie her to Sarah.

I learned a lot about the Vel D'hiv Roundup that took place in Paris in 1942, from this book. During this time French police arrested Jewish families living in France, and kept them in Velodrome d'Hiver camps for weeks in unsanitary conditions, with no food or water. They were then sent to Auschwitz where the Jewish families were killed by gas chambers. This book was a great read and I will always "Zakhor. Al Tichkah. Remember. Never Forget."

My Favourite Quotes:

"You get attached to places, you know. Like people, I suppose."

"Zakhor. Al Tichkah. Remember. Never Forget."

"You are safe here. You are safe with us."

I would love to hear some of your favourite books.
Thanks for reading (about me reading books haha)!

Bathroom Decor

1. Instead of a cabinet under the sink, you can build side cabinets to keep things organized

Bathrooms never seem to have enough room. No matter how big the bathroom is, you always need more room to store bathroom necessities, bath products, cleaning supplies and accessories. Here are some great ideas to keep the bathroom tidy and pleasant to look at.

2. If you don't have space on you walls for hanging towels, use the back of the door.

3. Baskets are great to organize lotions, creams and cleaning supplies in your bathroom.

4. If you don't have cupboards, you can use wooden crates to store bathroom necessities.

5. A creative way to hang your towels is on a ladder.

DIY: Chalkboard Frame

Happy Monday everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts last week but it was quite the crazy week between getting really sick and helping to run 3 events at work. But get excited, because I have a lot of exciting posts coming up this week. Starting off with this homemade chalkboard frame. It's a really easy and cheap project to make. I love making lists and checking things off. Seriously I do. I will even add something to a list after I have already done it just so I can check it off haha. So this chalkboard frame is great to keep beside a bedside table and jot down notes before you go to bed or write inspirational quotes to wake up to.

In case you can't read monday's quote: "Some people dream about success, while others WAKE UP and work hard at it."

Start off with a cheap frame. I bought mine at the Dollar Store
Sand off all the paint off the frame
Add a colour that you like. I decided to stick with the classic black and white theme.
Paint the glass of the frame with Chalkboard Paint (you may need 2 coats) and voila start jotting down notes!

Thanks for reading and have a great Monday!

Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses

Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses

Beach days are hopefully, right around the corner. Thinking about lounging in the sand, while the warm sun rays beat down on me, make me want to do a happy dance. For this swimsuit ensemble I decided to put different ocean colours together and pair them with gold accessories. So this summer lets get a little crazy with bright colours, and have some fun with our swimwear choices. What swimsuit colour or colours are you going to be rocking this summer?

 Happy swimsuit shopping ladies!

Sweet treats in Vancouver

Orange Chocolate cake: True Confections; Bourbon Vanilla Cheesecake: Revel Room
Tiffany Macaroons from a fashion event; Lovely Strawberry Cupcakes: Mini-Go Treats
While I don't eat desserts too often at home, I love indulging in a new dessert at various restaurants in Vancouver. My friend Ryan and I have even driven down to Vancouver at 11pm, searched aimlessly for the restaurant that we don't know the exact location too, for a taste of their delicious warm baked cookies. I like finding that dessert that isn't too sweet, yet fulfills your craving. Here are some of the delicious desserts I have tried in the last couple of months.

What are your favourite desserts?

Beauty in the clouds

"Wake up every morning with the thought that something wonderful is going to happen."

Happy Monday!! Hope you all had a great weekend and are pumped up for the week ahead. I am probably a bit more cheerful this morning because it's finally SUNNY in Vancouver and I have the day off. I am also really excited to be graduating from university this week, which means I need to start figuring out what I am going to wear. I better make sure I pick the right pair of shoes so that I don't fall while I walk across the stage to get my degree haha! If you have any outfit suggestions or stories of your graduation I would love to hear them.

Floats in the wind

Sunglasses: Ray ban; T-shirt: Forever 21; Skirt: Dynamite; Jacket: Dynamite; Bracelets: from India; Shoes: Unisa
$5 for this pleated skirt! I know right (my jaw hit the floor too)! It was such an amazing find a couple of months ago, that I also bought the same skirt in purple. I would usually never get the same kind of clothing in a different colour but when its $5 bucks for such a cute skirt, how could you not? I love the way the skirt moves as you walk. Since the skirt was so feminine, I paired the pleated skirt with some edgier pieces like a leather jacket and leopard print pumps.

Perfect Nap Spot

Lounging area at my hotel in Indonesia
Anyone that knows me well, knows how much I love to nap! There is nothing more refreshing than waking up after a nap in the middle of your day. Looking at an old picture of a napping spot during my trip to Indonesia (above picture) got me day dreaming about great and comfortable places to nap. So I complied a few pictures from my Pinterest, of some really cool spots that I would love to take a snooze in.

Oreo Truffles

I forgot my love for Oreo's until I bought a box to make these truffles. I am surprised that after depriving myself of these delicious cookies for years, I didn't finish the box before I made this recipe. These truffles are so easy to make, all you need is just 3 ingredients, Oreo's, cream cheese and milk chocolate. The hardest part of this recipe is probably waiting patiently for them to freeze, because all you want to do is gobble them up.
Start off with some Oreo's
Crush the Oreo's into tiny pieces
Add some cream cheese an roll it into a ball. Put it into the freezer to harden before the next step.
Melt some milk chocolate and then coat your Oreo truffles in chocolate
Pop these back into the freezer for an hour and voila, you will have yummy Oreo Truffles.

Let me know how it goes if you try to make these truffles and thanks for reading!
